I've also heard and witnessed what I consider to be a bigger threat. That being social interaction in the novel realm of "RL". I'm a massive fan of social sharing and interaction but it seems more and more are leaving out sharing things online in order to share them with people face to face. I was introduced to G+ before Diaspora and so when I signed up to Diaspora I thought they had copied G+. It looked almost exactly the same. Turned out G+ copied them.
